Although Covid-19 continues to influence our lives in many ways, Samaritan’s Purse is still hopefully to have a successful Operation Christmas Child Shoebox drive in 2020. The collection week is not until November 16 th -23 rd, but now is the time to start thinking about how we at Grace will once again help positively impact the lives of some deserving children from all around the world.
With careful consideration for the health of our members, we are offering some options for those who would like to participate in the ministry in 2020. We will continue to supply shoeboxes for those who would like to personally fill a shoebox and return it to church at their convenience prior to November 16 th. We will start to have shoeboxes available during the outdoor service on September 13 th and following that service, Monday –Thursday during regular office hours outside the main entrance to the Sanctuary. As always, each of these shoeboxes will need to be shipped and a $9 donation is suggested to cover this cost.
To have another local option, we would like to formulate a team of shoppers/packers composed of Grace Members willing to buy items and fill shoeboxes for those who prefer not to “shop” during the Covid-19 pandemic. Members could simply donate funds to have a box filled and shipped and this team would do the rest. If you feel so moved to be a part of the shopping/packing team, please contact Marlin McPhail via email or phone using his contact information in the church directory. Once a team is formed, members will be notified that this option is available for use.
Already, another option is available to anyone with internet access via the Samaritan’s Purse website. They have created a way to fill a box and ship it for $25 through a link provided below. You can select to just donate $25 per box and let them fill the box(es) or follow steps provided that will allow you to select gender, an age group and items to fill the box(es) from categories to fill a box for a deserving child.
Please pray on how you can help this ministry in 2020.
